Cardiff Board of Trustees Names Jill Vinson Heichel
As New School District Superintendent
The Cardiff School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Jill Vinson Heichel was appointed District Superintendent on June 8, 2010.
Vinson Heichel, who has served as Principal of Ada Harris Elementary School in the Cardiff district since 2003, will begin her duties in mid-July, according to Rhea Stewart, President of the Cardiff School District Board of Trustees.
“We're extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Jill Vinson Heichel. The children, families, and staff members at both schools hold Jill in high regard. She understands Cardiff and its unique community culture. Jill has a powerful vision to maintain the high academic standards and achievement of the Cardiff School District.”
Ms. Heichel has served as principal of Ada Harris Elementary School since 2003. She was previously an assistant principal at Alamosa Park Elementary in the Vista Unified School District.
In addition to her tenure as Principal and Vice Principal, Vinson Heichel has taught in both regular and bilingual classes in Vista and Vernon Hills, Illinois.

Vinson Heichel graduated from U.C. San Diego with a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in Spanish studies. She also spent a year studying at the University of Madrid. She also holds a master's degree in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois University.
The Board welcomes Ms. Heichel to her new position and is confident in her ability to lead the Cardiff School District.
