Birds of the San Elijo Lagoon
There are many birds at the San Elijo Lagoon. They all have different names and different habits. They all have one thing in common though; they all live at the San Elijo Lagoon.
Some birds, such as the ducks, live on the little islands in the middle of the lagoon. This is to protect their eggs from predators, such as raccoons who would like to have a midnight snack on their eggs.
Another type of bird is the Northern Shoveler. It gathers food by using its shovel-shaped bill to scrape food from the muddy bottom of the lagoon.
The Golden Eagle is an example of one of the large birds of the San Elijo Lagoon. It eats fish and small birds like sparrows and finches.
