By virtue of accepting SIP funding, the District must form and conduct a School Site Council (SSC). Cardiff conducts one council for both sites because of the unique nature of our district. Both site principals are involved in SSC, as well as parents, community members, certificated and classified staff. Mr. Jewell (the superintendent) has offered his expertise at our meetings, and we appreciate his continued support of the Council.
Our purpose is to discuss important school issues, work with principals to develop the School Plan, and define recommendations for appropriations of SIP funds to the Board. The SSC gives input to priorities for Strategic Goals for the district. SSC also receives information from the principals and the superintendent regarding student achievement and curriculum direction for both sites in order to make informed recommendations as requested.
A representative from SSC attends the monthly Board meeting to report on SSC business, and that person reports back to SSC with regard to Board agenda. Representatives from other groups such as PSO and Padres Unidos are also invited to participate in monthly SSC meetings. Parents and students are also invited to attend SSC meetings.
