BICYCLE SAFETY

  • Be Safe. Bike Smart.

CARDIFF SCHOOL DISTRICT BICYCLE PERMIT PROCESS

In an effort to promote student safety, students will now be required to have an annual permit tag if they will be riding a bicycle to school and parking it on campus. Students wishing to ride a bike must complete an application (linked below) and attend a Cardiff School District-approved Bicycle Safety Presentation. After completion of this application process, students will then receive a district-issued permit tag which will need to be affixed to their bicycle. Permits will be issued through each school’s front office. Students who do not have a permit tag visibly affixed to their bicycle will not be permitted to ride to school or park their bicycle on campus.

Bicycle Parking Permits shall be renewed annually. Students must complete an online application and attend a Cardiff School District-approved Bicycle Safety Presentation at the start of each school year. An assembly will be provided at each school to allow for ease of meeting this requirement. There will be no charge to students for any portion of the permit  application process. The online application link will be live all year to accommodate any new students, or students who later decide to ride their bike to school.

For those students who are unable to attend the Bicycle Safety Assembly at each school at the beginning of the school year, please check the Cardiff School District  website for dates, times, and locations of other Cardiff School District-approved Bicycle Safety Presentations. A grace period will be given at the start of each school year for all students, and throughout the year for any newly-enrolled Cardiff School District students.

Please Note: Bicycle Permits are a privilege and may be revoked at any time for not following the safety expectations covered in the Cardiff School District-approved Bicycle Safety Presentation. This includes wearing a helmet while riding as well as riding safely to and from school and school-sponsored events.
