Dear Room 4 Families,
We are excited to tap into our Architectural, Engineering, and Building skills on Thursday with our Center Activities to Build to 100! We will be practicing counting to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's and more! This week we are learning about the design process and growth mindset so we can improve upon our mistakes. We're learning about the careers of architects, engineers, and builders. And most importantly, we are having fun while we learn and grow. I encourage students to come to school on Thursday dressed as architects, engineers, or builders - I will provide hard hats and tool belts; I encourage students to wear work pants, work shirts, and work shoes.
Friday (1/26) will be our next Awards Assembly. It will also be a School Spirit Day: Kindness Shirt Day!
Next Week we will celebrate Kindness/Ability Awareness Week with Dogs from Love on a Leash on Monday and Miniature Horses on Friday. Throughout that week we will be reading books, doing activities, and having conversations around ways we can show kindness to others and learning how we all have different abilities.
Looking ahead a little to next month and Valentines Day - we will have a fun exchange. I ask that if your child will be giving Valentines cards to some students, he/she give a card to all students in the class (please see the list in your child's communication folder next week). We make it a fun 'reading & writing activity', so please help your child address a card to everyone and include his/her own name on the 'from:' line. I ask that you please try to get these in by Monday 2/13, if possible, so that we can get ourselves set up for the exchange. If you are cleared to volunteer and would like to help us read names that day from 11:15-12:00, we would love to have your help!
Some dates to keep in mind:
Wednesday February 14 Valentines Exchange 11:15-12:00
February 19-23: Family Week (School Closed)
Home-School Connection: This week we are continuing with the sounds for Gg and Ww and the sight words "they" and "of", as well as continuing with counting-on from an anchor of 5 or an anchor of 10, as well as the 'partners' that make up these numbers. If your child is following along with the Math Homework, we are working on pages 41-44. Our Character-Traits this month are Collaboration and Respect.
As always, thank you for all you do to help your child have a successful Kindergarten year.
